FARMER'S BRANCH, Texas - Texas A&M University-Texarkana Baseball secured back-to-back wins with a 6-4 victory over Dallas Christian and a 15-12 triumph against Schreiner to improve to 9-1 on the season.
Game 1: Dallas Christian College (W 6-4)
The Eagles secured a hard-fought 6-4 victory over Dallas Christian in an exciting matchup that showcased stellar pitching, clutch hitting, and late-inning drama. The win was anchored by Blake Taylor's dominant outing on the mound, as he delivered four scoreless innings, striking out five batters and keeping Dallas Christian's offense in check. Taylor's command and poise set the tone early, allowing A&M-Texarkana to build a lead they would never relinquish.
The offensive spark for Texarkana came from Brandon Riley and Jason Armendariz, who both had standout performances at the plate, going 3-for-4. Riley's bat was particularly explosive as he launched a home run that helped ignite the Eagles' offense. Connor Owens added to the power display with a home run of his own, providing crucial insurance runs that would prove vital down the stretch. The team's ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities and apply pressure kept Dallas Christian's pitching staff on their heels throughout the game.
Despite trailing for most of the contest, Dallas Christian showed resilience, mounting a late rally in the final inning. They managed to push across two runs, cutting the deficit to just two and putting the tying run on base. However, Texarkana's bullpen held firm as Anthony Galindo came in to close the door, picking up the save with a composed performance under pressure.
The game highlighted TAMUT's balanced approach, combining strong pitching with timely hitting and solid defense. Their ability to weather Dallas Christian's late push and execute in key moments proved to be the difference, securing an impressive 6-4 victory.
Game 2: Schreiner University (W 15-12)
A&M-Texarkana outlasted Schreiner in a high-scoring slugfest, earning a 15-12 victory in a game dominated by offensive fireworks and strategic pitching changes. The Eagles' bullpen was busy throughout the contest, utilizing six different pitchers—Gage Mason, Adrian Fernandez, Harrison Barnett, Marcus Tidwell, Nathan Hunter, and Dustin Niles—to navigate through nine innings. Despite allowing 14 hits, TAMUT's pitching staff made timely stops when it mattered most. Adrian Fernandez picked up the win after delivering two crucial innings in relief, helping to stabilize the game during a critical stretch.
On the offensive side, the Eagles were powered by a breakout performance from freshman Austin Kerns, who had a career day at the plate, going 4-for-6 with a home run. Kerns was the spark plug for an explosive A&M-Texarkana lineup that consistently applied pressure to Schreiner's pitching staff. Brandon Riley added to the offensive surge with a home run of his own, continuing his hot streak at the plate. Jonathan Rios also had an outstanding game, finishing 3-for-4, while Jason Armendariz, Brandon Riley, and Connor Owens each contributed multi-hit performances, showcasing the team's depth and balance.
Schreiner battled back throughout the game, keeping the pressure on TAMUT's pitching staff with a relentless offensive attack that resulted in 12 runs. However, the Eagles' resilience, timely hitting, and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities ultimately proved to be the difference.
