Eagles Split Series Against Dakota State

HOOKS, Texas- The Texas A&M University-Texarkana baseball team split their series with Dakota State University, showing a blend of strong pitching and timely offense. The Eagles secured two wins through solid mound performances and clutch hitting, including a dramatic comeback and a dominant offensive outburst. Despite a tough loss in game two and some defensive struggles, their offensive consistency and resilience kept them competitive throughout the series.

Game 1: (W, 4-3)
Texas A&M-Texarkana edged Dakota State 4-3 in a tense game one pitcher's duel. Blake Taylor gave a strong performance, allowing just one earned run and four hits over 5 2/3 innings. Although Taylor did not factor into the decision, Harrison Barnett pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits to secure the win.

Down by two runs entering the seventh inning, the Eagles mounted a comeback. Austin Kerns delivered a two-RBI single to tie the game, shifting the momentum. With the bases loaded, Jason Armendariz was hit by a pitch, forcing in the winning run and completing the Eagles' comeback. The win showcased the team's resilience and ability to perform under pressure.

Game 2: (L, 16-7)
Texas A&M-Texarkana fell 16-7 in game two as Dakota State's offense exploded for 16 runs on 15 hits. Despite the loss, the Eagles had some bright spots offensively, with Jose Parreno going 3-for-4 and Graydon Martin driving in three RBIs. However, the Eagles couldn't match the Trojans' offensive surge.

Dylan Cabral took the loss, giving up five earned runs over four innings. The bullpen struggled to contain Dakota State, and the Eagles were unable to catch up.

Game 3: (L, 8-6)
The Eagles fought back in game three but fell short, losing 8-6. Kel Busby, making his first start of the season, struggled early, allowing five earned runs in the first inning but settled down afterward. The bullpen kept the Trojans in check, allowing just three hits over four innings.

Texas A&M-Texarkana staged a six-run rally in the sixth inning, highlighted by Adam Garren's two-run home run and clutch RBIs from Joey Spence and Jonathan Rios. However, with two outs and the bases loaded, Jason Armendariz's line drive was snagged by Dakota State's shortstop, ending the Eagles' comeback attempt. Despite the loss, the Eagles' late-game fight showcased their resilience and offensive depth.

Game 4: (W, 8-4)
Texas A&M-Texarkana bounced back with an 8-4 win in the series finale. Marcus Tidwell made a strong start, allowing one run over three innings, and Andrew Ender earned the win in relief. Camden Gamble and Dustin Niles closed out the game for the Eagles.

Offensively, Austin Kerns and Jason Armendariz each went 3-for-4 at the plate. Kerns powered a three-run home run in the third inning, followed by a two-RBI single from Jose Parreno, contributing to a five-run inning. Despite a late solo home run by Dakota State's Cameron DeMaria, the Trojans couldn't mount a comeback, and the Eagles secured the win with a balanced effort from both pitching and hitting.
