Eagles Secure Gritty 8-6 Win Over Wiley, Momentum Builds for LSUS Clash
TEXARKANA, Texas- Texas A&M University-Texarkana Baseball secured an 8-6 victory over the Wiley University Wildcats in a competitive mid-week matchup on Tuesday. The game featured a strategic approach from the Eagles, who utilized eight different pitchers to keep the Wildcats' offense in check. Camden Gamble delivered an impressive performance out of the bullpen, earning his first collegiate win after pitching three innings and allowing just one hit with no runs. Andrew Ender also played a key role in closing out the game, securing his first save of the season.
The contest started as a back-and-forth battle, with both teams exchanging runs through the first four innings. However, the momentum shifted in the bottom of the fourth when the Eagles' offense ignited a crucial rally. With two outs, Texas A&M-Texarkana strung together three clutch hits, driving in four runs to seize control of the game. Marcus Tidwell, Austin Kerns, and Connor Owens played pivotal roles in the explosive inning, providing timely hits to break the deadlock and put the Eagles ahead.
Connor Owens emerged as the standout performer at the plate, driving in four RBIs to power the Eagles' offense. Despite Wiley University's efforts to keep the game close, Texas A&M-Texarkana's bullpen managed to hold the lead through the late innings. The win marks an important step for the Eagles as they continue to build momentum as they head to Shreveport this weekend to take on the #1 LSUS Pilots who are currently on a 34 game winning streak.
