
Eagles Soar Past Dallas Christian with Dominant Doubleheader Sweep
TEXARKANA, Texas- Texas A&M University-Texarkana Baseball hosted the Crusaders of Dallas Christian College for a non-conference doubleheader yesterday afternoon at George Dobson Field in Spring Lake Park. The Eagles dominated at the plate, outscoring the Crusaders 29-2.
Game 1: Crusaders 1, Eagles 11
In a dominant performance, Texas A&M-Texarkana defeated Dallas Christian College 11–3 in Game 1of the double header, marking a historic day for the Eagles. Pitcher Gage Baker delivered a stellar outing, going five innings without allowing a run, surrendering just two hits and striking out five batters. With this performance, Baker etched his name into the record books as the all-time leader in career wins for the Eagles baseball program.
The offensive firepower was just as impressive for the Eagles, led by Austin Kerns who went 2-for-4 with two home runs. Kerns' performance not only contributed significantly to the win but also moved him into third place for most home runs in a single season in team history. His clutch hitting helped the Eagles establish an early lead and maintain control throughout the game.
Several other players also made key contributions in the win. Jason Armendariz had a solid game at the plate, going 2-for-3 and driving in two runs. Adam Garren added to the offensive explosion with three RBIs of his own, rounding out a well-balanced team effort.
Game 2: Crusades 1, Eagles 18
Texas A&M-Texarkana continued their dominant series against Dallas Christian College with an overwhelming 18–1 victory in Game 2. The Eagles utilized seven different pitchers throughout the game, showcasing the depth of their bullpen. The staff combined to allow just five hits and one run while striking out nine Crusader batters. Camden Gamble emerged from the bullpen to earn the win, improving his season record to 2–0.
Offensively, the Eagles were nearly unstoppable, putting up 18 runs and recording hits from 12 different players. Power was a key theme in this game, with Joey Spence, Jonathan Rios, and Gabe Baker each launching home runs. Their efforts not only contributed to the lopsided win but also tied the 2022 team's record for most home runs in a single season—a significant milestone for the program.
