Texas A&M-Texarkana Sweeps Louisiana Christian to Close Out RRAC Road Play

PINEVILLE, La. – Texas A&M University-Texarkana Baseball hit the road to Pineville last weekend for their final Red River Athletic Conference road series of the season, taking on the Wildcats of Louisiana Christian University. In a tightly contested series, the Eagles came out on top in all three matchups, completing the sweep and gaining key momentum heading into the final week of regular season play.

Game 1: Texas A&M-Texarkana 3, Louisiana Christian University 1

In a tightly contested pitcher's duel, Texas A&M-Texarkana edged out Louisiana Christian University with a 3-1 victory in the opening game of their three-game series. The Eagles were led by a stellar performance from pitcher Blake Taylor, who went the distance with a complete nine-inning effort. Taylor gave up just one run on four hits and two walks, earning his fifth win of the season. Despite a strong showing from Louisiana Christian's Jacob Bareswill on the mound, the Eagles capitalized on key opportunities to secure the win.

Texas A&M-Texarkana's offense managed only eight hits in the game but made them count with timely execution. The Eagles plated runs through a walk in the second inning, a single in the third, and a balk in the sixth. Jonathan Rios and Joey Spence were the only players with multiple hits, providing crucial contributions in a game dominated by pitching. Although the bats weren't overpowering, the Eagles showed just enough firepower to get past a tough Louisiana Christian University defense.

Ultimately, it was Texas A&M-Texarkana's resilience that sealed the win. Their ability to stay composed under pressure and make the most of limited scoring chances demonstrated their determination and grit. In a game where runs were hard to come by, the Eagles' refusal to fold in crucial moments proved to be the deciding factor in this hard-fought victory.

Game 2: Texas A&M-Texarkana 7, Louisiana Christian University 0

Texas A&M-Texarkana carried their momentum into Game 2 of the series with another commanding performance, this time shutting out Louisiana Christian University. Pitcher Harrison Barnett was dominant on the mound, throwing a complete seven-inning game to earn his sixth win of the season. Barnett allowed just four hits and struck out eight batters, keeping the opposition off balance throughout the game and continuing the Eagles' strong run of pitching.

While the pitching remained a strong point, the Eagles' offense also found its stride in Game 2. Eight different batters contributed with hits, showcasing the depth and balance of the lineup. James Provencio and Conner Owens led the charge at the plate, each recording three hits and driving in multiple runs to help break the game open. Their performances sparked a consistent offensive effort that put pressure on Louisiana Christian from start to finish.

The combination of dominant pitching and a surging offense proved too much for Louisiana Christian University to handle. Texas A&M-Texarkana's all-around performance in Game 2 not only secured a shutout victory but also demonstrated their ability to win in multiple ways. With the series now firmly in their favor, the Eagles look poised to complete the sweep with confidence and momentum on their side.

Game 3: Texas A&M-Texarkana 6, Louisiana Christian University 5

Game 3 of the series between Texas A&M-Texarkana and Louisiana Christian University was a tightly contested battle that tested the depth of both bullpens. With momentum swinging back and forth, the Eagles ultimately came out on top thanks to clutch pitching and timely offense. Camden Gamble played the hero on the mound, entering the game in a high-pressure situation in the bottom of the fifth with two men on and just one out. He immediately induced a double play to escape the jam and went on to pitch the remainder of the game without allowing a single hit or run, improving his record to a perfect 3-0.

Offensively, the Eagles pieced together just enough firepower to get the job done. Freddie Madera was the only player with multiple hits, while James Provencio delivered a critical two-run double in the second inning to give the Eagles an early edge. In the fifth, Joey Spence launched a solo home run, not only padding the lead but also helping the 2025 Eagles set a new program record for team home runs in a single season—a historic milestone in a hard-fought game.

The deciding moment came in the seventh inning when Conner Owens capitalized on a wild pitch from Louisiana Christian's Kade Linn, scoring the go-ahead run. That run proved to be the difference in a game that could have swung either way. With the sweep of the series complete, Texas A&M-Texarkana showcased their resilience, depth, and growing confidence as they continue to assert themselves as a force this season.
