STERLINGTON, La.— Texas A&M University-Texarkana saw its 2025 season come to a close after dropping a pair of games at the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championship Tournament in Sterlington, Louisiana.
The Eagles (34-18), seeded third, opened the double-elimination tournament against Louisiana Christian, followed by a consolation bracket game against the University of the Southwest.
Louisiana Christian 4, Texas A&M-Texarkana 3
After four scoreless innings, Louisiana Christian broke through with three runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth. The Eagles responded in the sixth as Jonathan Rios delivered an RBI single and Conner Owens tied the game with a two-run home run to left, making it 3-3.
But Louisiana Christian regained the lead in the seventh when Braden McLin hit a go-ahead solo home run. The Eagles managed just three hits—one each from Rios, Owens and Bobby Velasco—and were held scoreless over the final three frames.
Starter Dylan Cabral threw four shutout innings, but the Wildcats capitalized on Texarkana's bullpen to score all four of their runs.
Southwest 9, Texas A&M-Texarkana 3
In the consolation round, Southwest took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run double by Carson Miller. The Eagles tied the game with runs in the second and fifth innings, and took a brief 3-2 lead in the seventh when Jason Armendariz scored on a wild pitch.
However, Southwest responded with four runs in the bottom of the seventh, aided by multiple Texarkana defensive errors. The Mustangs tacked on three more in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
The Eagles recorded seven hits in the loss. Armendariz, Owens and Adam Garren each had two hits, with Armendariz adding an RBI.
