Eagles outshot by Ottawa in Saturday's home opener

After playing to a tie in the first half of Saturday's home opener, the A&M-Texarkana men's basketball team was unable to convert as often as their opponent down the stretch and Ottawa (Ks.) pulled away for an 85-77 win at the Patterson Center.

Ottawa's Jayden Hibbitt scored 38 points on 15-of-22 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds as the Braves shot 5e percent from the floor and 77 percent from the foul line. Two others for the visiting team scored 11 apiece.

Levelle Zeigler and Dezmond Washington each scored 22 for the Eagles (1-1) and Raschard Greene added 15 points. Zeigler added four assists and three steals.

TAMUT shot 50 percent for the game but were outshot in the second half as the Braves converted 17 field goals to 13 for the Eagles.

The Eagles will have a week off to prepare for the Battle at the Beach in Panama City, Fla., where the team will face Loyola (La.) and Faulkner (Ala.) on Nov. 20-21.
