Central Baptist hands Eagles a non-conference home loss

A&M-Texarkana led for the first four minutes of Saturday's game at the Patterson Center, but once Central Baptist (Ark.) took its first lead, the Eagles would never regain it and eventually fall 68-49 to the Mustangs.

The Eagles (2-3) shot just 25 percent in the first half and fell behind 30-18 at intermission before the Mustangs (7-2) outscored the hosts by seven in the second half. TAMUT would finish the game shooting a season-low 29.6 percent (16-of-54), including 1-of-14 from long range.

Dezmond Washington recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Levelle Zeigler led the team with 12 points to go with four rebounds and four assists. Aman Measho also scored 12 points. The Eagles posted a 35-32 advantage on the boards but CBC managed a 28-20 scoring advantage in the paint.

The Mustangs hit 47 percent in the first half and 45 in the second to finish the game at 46 percent from the floor (23-of-50), which included 8-of-22 shooting from behind the arc. Devin Foster led all scorers with 16 points, Sage Borbon had 13 and Christian White grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to go with nine points.

The Eagles are home again Thursday to open conference play against Louisiana Christian at 7:30 pm in the Patterson Center.
