Eagles unable to keep pace with Rams' hot shooting

AUSTIN, Texas — A&M-Texarkana was outscored in each half of Thursday's conference game at Huston-Tillotson and the hot shooting Rams handed the Eagles a 82-70 loss on the road.

The Eagles (3-5 overall, 1-2 RRAC) shot just 36 percent in the first half and finished the night at 43 percent (27-of-63) but they were able to hist just 4-of-20 shots from long range, something the host Rams (3-7, 1-3) did with far greater success.

HTU made 32-of-54 shots from the floor (59 percent) and made 13-of-24 (54 percent) from deep to take a 36-30 lead into intermission and outscore the Eagles by six points in each half.

Dezmond Washington led the Eagles with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting, Aman Measho added 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Raschard Greene tossed in 12 points. Levelle Zeigler was held to nine points on 2-of-12 shooting but did finish with seven assists and three steals.

Khalif Allim led five Rams in double figures with 23, Auston Chatman scored 17 points to go with 10 boards, Faybeyon Shelton added 15 points, James Harrison added 11 and Charles Hallmon finished with a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double. The Rams finished with a 39-25 advantage on the glass and shot 67 percent in the second half.

The Eagles will take on Our Lady of the Lake at 4 pm Saturday in San Antonio.
