TYLER, Texas — A&M-Texarkana fell behind early in Thursday's conference matchup at Texas College and was unable to recover, falling 94-63 to the Steers in Tyler. Texas College jumped out to a 55-27 halftime lead behind 61.8 percent shooting, a lead that would be too big for the Eagles (7-15 overall, 5-11 RRAC) to overcome.
Ajani Jamison led the Eagles with 15 points, Levelle Zeigler added 12 points and six rebounds, and Justin Davis had 10 points, but the Eagles shot just 37.9 percent from the floor while their opponents finished at 58.2 percent after a blistering hit first half.
Five players finished in double figures for the Steers (17-5, 13-3), led by Kaleb Parks with 17 points. Three others each added 11 points and another finished with 10. Texas College had a double-digit lead just four minutes into the contest and went ahead by 20 with eight minutes left in the first half. At the 5:20 mark, the Steers led 46-15 and held their biggest lead – 36 points – at the 14:17 mark of the second half. The Eagles never led in the game.
Thursday's game was the first of five straight on the road for TAMUT. The Eagles are in action again Saturday at 4 pm when they face Jarvis Christian in Hawkins.
