Eagles Soar to Fourth Straight Win with 93-74 Victory Over Texas College

TEXARKANA, Texas - The Eagles hosted the Steers of Texas College for their final home game until after the new year. Men's Basketball extended their win streak to 4 games with a 93-74 victory over the Steers.

The Eagles would jump out on the Steers 8-2 after 3 consecutive baskets by Doreante Tucker, and that would set the pace for the remainder of the first half. Led in threes by Tucker with 3, the Eagles would shoot an astounding 70% from beyond the arc in the first half. TAMUT would also record 11 assists in the first half alone and would have the edge over the Steers at the half with a score of 50-35. Tucker would lead all scorers after the first with 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting (3-4 from three).

The Eagles would hold their largest lead of the game with a 22 point gap, within the first 3 minutes of play of the second half. Despite the point differential, the Steers continued to pressure the Eagles and managed to cut the lead in half. The Eagles turned up the intensity and for the final minutes of the game outplayed the Steers and would bring the lead back to 19 with a dunk by Jakari Livingston with just over 30 seconds left to play. The two teams would let the clock wind down and at the final buzzer the Eagles would emerge victorious with a final score of 93-74.

The Eagles were led in scoring by Doreante Tucker, who recorded a season high 22 points on 8 of 11 shooting from the field and 4 of 5 from beyond the arc. Payton Chism would contribute 7 assists for the Eagles, and Daryl Houston would snag 7 boards.

The Eagles will be back in action on December 12th as they travel to New Orleans to take on the Gold Rush of Xavier University of Louisiana. Tipoff is set for 7:30pm at the Convocation Center.
