Eagles Battle Hard but Fall Short Against Paul Quinn, 81-76

DALLAS, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Men's Basketball team traveled to Dallas for a Red River Athletic Conference matchup versus the Tigers of Paul Quinn College. When the two teams met earlier in the season, the Eagles took home the victory on their home court, however the Tigers flipped the script and snagged their own victory at home in tonight's contest, with a final score of 81-76.

The Eagles dominated inside, scoring 28 points in the paint compared to the Tigers' 16, but Paul Quinn's sharp shooting from beyond the arc (48%) played a major role in tonight's game.

The Eagles jumped out to an early lead, but Paul Quinn responded quickly, tying the score at 10. The rest of the first half was tightly contested, with neither team gaining more than a two-possession advantage. A late three-pointer by Julian Spotser gave the Tigers a 39-37 lead heading into halftime.

The second half mirrored the first, with both teams trading baskets. In the final moments, Paul Quinn pulled ahead just enough to secure the win.

The Eagles were led by Deovaunta Williams with 12 points, followed by Rodney Mason II and Daryl Houston, who each added 11. Houston also grabbed nine rebounds, and Payton Chism dished out six assists.

With the loss, TAMUT falls to 12-7 overall and 11-6 in conference play. The Eagles will stay on the road this week, traveling to New Mexico to face the Mustangs of Southwest on Saturday, Jan. 25. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
