HOBBS, N.M. – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana men's basketball team faced the University of the Southwest on Saturday in a Red River Athletic Conference matchup, falling to the Mustangs, 81-61.
The two teams previously met earlier this season, when the Eagles handed the Mustangs their first loss of the year. This time, however, Southwest took control early, building a 34-21 halftime lead behind a strong shooting performance, finishing the game at 51.7% from the field.
The Eagles improved offensively in the second half, scoring 40 points, but the deficit proved too large to overcome. TAMUT shot just 30.2% from the field overall, compared to Southwest's efficiency.
Justin Davis led the Eagles with 15 points, while Raymond Moore added 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 29, in a non-conference matchup against Dallas Christian College. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Farmers Branch, Texas.
