The Eagles defeated the visiting Steers of Texas College on Senior Day! Men's Soccer celebrated their five seniors on their last home game of regular season. This year's five seniors for Men's Soccer were Diego Chavez, Dante Zavala, Oluwafisayo Oduwole, Kenneth Opara, and Diego Saldana.
The Eagles would defeat the Steers in a 3-0 shutout this Saturday on Judy Kelley Morgan Field.
In the 13th minute the Steers would commit a foul in the box giving the Eagles a chance to get on the board with a PK. Diego Picano would capitalize on this opportunity and score the first goal of the day for the Eagles. The Eagles would provide some offensive pressure on the Steers by producing 12 shots in the first half compared to the Steers' 4. However, the Eagles were unable to add another goal to the score in the first half, and going into halftime the score was 1-0 in favor of the Eagles.
Patrick Cowley would score the first goal of the second half for the Eagles just 7 minutes in to play (52ndminute). The two teams battled back and forth for the remainder of the game, the Eagles up 2-0 were searching for one more goal to secure the victory over the Steers. In the 85th minute Aaron Bocanegra off an assist from Brian Omosa would be able to do just that giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead with just under 5 minutes left of play to go. The clock would run out as the Steers would attempt one last shot at goal and the Eagles earned the win over the Steers 3-0.
The Eagles move to 7-8-3 on the season and 5-3-2 in conference play. Men's Soccer would finish ranked 6th in the conference and earn a spot in the RRAC Men's Soccer Tournament.
The Eagles will be traveling to LSU-Alexandria to take on the General in the Quarterfinals later this week. The date and time of the match is TBD.
