TEXARKANA, Texas- Texas A&M–Texarkana men's soccer came up short on Saturday afternoon, falling 3–1 to Dallas Christian College at Judy Kelley Morgan Soccer Field.
The Eagles created plenty of chances, outshooting the Crusaders 16–12 and earning nine corner kicks to their opponent's two. But despite controlling stretches of play, Texarkana struggled to finish opportunities while Dallas Christian made the most of theirs.
The Crusaders struck first in the 23rd minute and then doubled their lead just after halftime. Less than six minutes later, Dallas Christian pushed the advantage to 3–0. The Eagles finally broke through in the 63rd minute, when Cristobal De Leon found the back of the net off an assist from Oscar Mejia.
Texarkana continued to press late, tallying 11 second-half shots, but Dallas Christian's defense and goalkeeper held firm to deny the comeback. Goalkeeper CJ Jones made four saves in the loss.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 0-2-1 on the season. Texarkana will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, hosting former RRAC rival Huston-Tillotson. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Judy Kelley Morgan Soccer Field on the A&M–Texarkana campus.
