
Eagles Take Double Header agianst University of the Ozarks
Texarkana, Texas—Eagles softball took on the University of the Ozarks on Friday afternoon in a double header. The Eagles swept both games 3-2 and 10-0 moving them to a record of 3-3.
Game one:
Game one was a defensive match early in the game, but the Eagles were first to break the standoff in the fifth inning. Kallee King (JR/Okataha, Oklahoma) would get it started with a lead off single to shallow left field. Olivia Mueller (FR/Mesquite, Texas) moved her over with a sac bunt. Then Kayla Mahan (JR/Roanoke, Texas) came through with a RBI triple to left field scoring Kallee King.
University of the Ozarks would tie the game in the top of the 7th inning. After a walk and a single, Riki Haase hit a sac fly to right field scoring Hannah Oler which tied the game at 1-1.
This game went into extra innings and The University of the Ozarks were first to score in the 8th inning off a RBI double by Brittney Dean.
The Eagles would find life in the 8th inning from a two out double by Alyssa Steward (JR/Garden Grove, California) and a Raylee Hodge walk. Kallee King came up to the plate with runners at first and second and blasted a double deep down the left field line scoring both runs and walking off the game in spectacular fashion, giving the Eagles the 3 to 2 win.
Game two:
Game two was much different then game one with the Eagles putting up a barrage of hits and runs giving them a 10-0 win in five innings.
The Eagles would get the game started in the first inning as Kacey Maines (JR/Carthage, Texas)ed reached base by getting hit by a pitch and Kayla Mahan reach base on a bunt. Alyssa Steward walked with 1 out to load the bases. Maylee Martinez (JR/Bayamon, Puerto Rico) grounded out to first base, which brought Kacey Maines across for the first run of the game. Kallee King followed up with a two RBI single to shallow right field giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the second inning, Raylee Hodge would homer to dead center, tacking on another run to the Eagles lead 4-0.
The Eagles would blow the doors open in the third inning with 5 runs. Brianna Davis (JR/Houston, Texas) would homer to right field to lead off the inning. Hannah Cooper (JR/Frisco, Texas) hit a grand slam to dead center. Raising the Eagles' lead to 9 to 0.
Alyssa Steward came up in the bottom of the fourth inning sealing the game for the Eagles with a RBI single to shallow center field.
Because of the 10-run mercy rule after 5 innings, the Eagles won the game in five innings, 10-0.
