Eagles sweep Centenary, move to 4-0 this season

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana — A&M-Texarkana stayed unbeaten Sunday thanks to a doubleheader sweep of Centenary in Shreveport. The Eagles (4-0) had to go to extra innings in the second game but put up five runs in the ninth to take care of the Ladies.

Anna Westberry picked up her second win of the season in the opener, holding Centenary to just six hits and two runs over seven innings. Patti Swimley led the way with three hits, while Macey Cutsinger, Katie Slamer (two doubles) and Baylee Stautzenberger each had a pair. Grace Cantu tripled and drove in a pair of runs.

In the second game, the hosts scored three runs in the sixth to tie the game, which would go into extras. In the ninth, Sautzenberger tripled to score Cutsinger, Sarah Velasquez doubled to bring in two more, and the Eagles would add an additional two runs on a Centenary error.

Mackenzie Vittitow started and tossed six innings, with Stephanie Chico finishing the final three innings to earn her second win of the season. Macie Reeves and Cantu each drove in a pair.

The Eagles are in Fort Worth on Tuesday for a doubleheader against Arlington Baptist, starting at 3:00 pm.
