Eagles split home series with LSU-Alexandria as conference play begins

 A&M-Texarkana opened conference play Saturday with a split of two games against LSU-Alexandria at Bramlett Field. The Eagles (4-7 overall, 1-1 RRAC) bounced back from a 7-2 loss in the first game to even the score with a 2-1 win in the finale.

The Generals blew open the opening game with a five-run third inning and added another pair in the fourth to put the game out of reach. Alexis Snyder fell to 1-3 inside the circle, allowing seven hits and six earned runs in four innings while striking out two.

Baylee Stautzenberger doubled for one of just three hits by the Eagles and Karmen Searcy singled home a run in the sixth. Grace Cantu and Stautzenberger each scored a run.

In the second game, Stephanie Chico struck out five and allowed just seven hits and one run while improving to 2-2 in the circle. The Eagles managed just five hits but got two from Stautzenberger, who drove in both runs.

Madison Dingman and Macey Cutinger each stole a base and Dingman scored a run.

The Eagles are on the road Tuesday for a conference doubleheader at Jarvis Christian. The first game is scheduled for 12 pm in Hawkins.
