Eagles weather the storm, sweep Saturday games at Gulf Shores
GULF SHORES, Alabama — After Friday's games were rained out, the A&M-Texarkana softball team regrouped and swept a pair of contests Saturday at the Gulf Shores Invitational, beating Bethel (TN) and Faulkner (AL) to move their record up to 7-8 overall.
The Eagles will wrap up their schedule in Alabama tomorrow with a 9 am meeting with Central Methodist (MO).

Eagles 3, Bethel 1
Pitching was strong for both teams in Saturday's opener, but Stephanie Chico was strongest, tossing a complete game and allowing just five hits and one run while striking out seven. Chico picked up her third win of the season.
Bethel opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first, but the Eagles kept them off the board for the rest of the game. TAMUT scored on a passed ball in the fifth to tie the game and captured the lead in the sixth when Macey Cutsinger singled home a run. Another run scored on a Bethel error. Madison Dingman led the Eagles with two hits.

Eagles 5, Faulkner 4
The Eagles built a four-run lead in the first inning and held off Faulkner's late rally for a 5-4 win in the finale. TAMUT got on the board first on a single by Baylee Stautzenberger. Karmen Searcy followed with a two-run single, and Cutsinger plated another on a sacrifice fly.
Alexis Snyder threw all seven innings to get the win, allowing seven hits and three earned runs. Searcy went 2-for-3 at the plate while Madison Dingman stole a pair of bases, giving her 14 for the season.
