Snyder's no-hitter punctuates Eagles' dominant sweep of Jarvis Christian

A&M-Texarkana put together its most complete conference series of the season Tuesday, combining shutdown pitching to go with clutch offense and baserunning to sweep a pair from Jarvis Christian by scores of 6-1 and 12-0 at Bramlett Field.

After a dominant pitching performance from senior Stephanie Chico to set the tone in the opener, freshman Alexis Snyder recorded her first collegiate no-hitter in the finale. The Eagles (16-14 overall, 8-6 RRAC) totaled 18 runs on 14 hits and stole seven bases during the doubleheader.

GAME 1

Chico improved to 7-3 in the circle, striking out three and surrendering just three hits and one walk in the first game. The only run allowed came with two outs in the final inning, with the Eagles comfortably ahead. Macey Cutsinger doubled and drove in two runs, Snyder doubled home a run and Brooklyn Ruiz walked twice and scored twice.

TAMUT got out to a 4-0 lead in the second on two hits, a Jarvis Christian error, and a sac fly from Cutsinger, who would add an RBI double in the fourth to go with a run-scoring single by Raylene Zazueta to give the Eagles a 6-0 lead.

GAME 2

Snyder improved to 5-7 with her no-hit performance, needing just 54 pitches to finish the Bulldogs in five innings. Snyder allowed just one baserunner in the contest when she hit the leadoff batter in the final frame. She forced 11 ground ball outs and didn't allow a single ball to reach the outfield.

Karmen Searcy doubled and drove in three runs, Zazueta drove in a pair and Cantu also had two RBI. Madison Dingman and Cutsinger each had a pair of hits and Dingman stole two bases. Seven different players drove in at least one run.

The Eagles gave Snyder plenty of support, putting up a four-spot in the first, adding another in the second and a big seven runs in the fourth.
