TAMUT Softball Opens Conference Play with Dominant Sweep Over Louisiana Christian
PINEVILLE, La. – Texas A&M University-Texarkana softball opened conference play with a dominant doubleheader sweep over Louisiana Christian University this afternoon. The Eagles secured a 5-4 victory in Game 1 before closing out the series with a 9-1 win in Game 2.
Game 1
Louisiana Christian struck first with a solo home run by Jordan Dauthier in the bottom of the first inning. The Eagles responded in the third when Presley Humphrey's shot to center field brought home Madison Dingman to tie the game at 1-1. However, LCU quickly regained the lead on a ground ball single by Bevan Hartnett.
TAMUT took control with two home runs—Raylene Zazueta launched one in the fourth inning, followed by Brooke Usrey's homer in the fifth. Alexis Snyder earned the win on the mound, while Charli Miller recorded the save. Usrey led the offense with two RBIs, while Zazueta and Dingman each tallied two hits.
Game 2
The Eagles carried their momentum into the second game, striking early as Usrey blasted a two-run homer to center field in the first inning. TAMUT extended its lead to 4-0 in the third on a groundout by Humphrey that scored Kasen Morkisch, followed by a solo home run from Grace Cantu.
Usrey capped off her impressive performance with her second home run of the game in the seventh inning, extending the Eagles' lead to eight runs. Rylee Glenn earned the win, allowing just three hits and one run over six innings while striking out seven.
TAMUT's offense exploded for 14 hits in Game 2. Baylee Stautzenberger and Skyler Martin led the way with three hits each, while Usrey drove in four runs.

The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 25, for their home conference opener against LSU-Alexandria. Game 1 is set for 1 p.m., with Game 2 to follow at 3 p.m at Bramlett Field in Spring Lake Park in Texarkana, Texas.
