Eagles Fall Short Against No. 21 LSUA in Home Conference Series
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana softball team hosted the nationally ranked Generals of Louisiana State University-Alexandria for their first home conference series of the season. The Generals showcased their offensive power, tallying 24 hits across two games. The Eagles dropped both matchups (9-3, 3-1), falling to 11-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Game 1 (L, 9-3)
A five-run second inning propelled the Generals to a 9-3 victory over the Eagles. Texarkana struck first in the opening frame, as Brooke Usrey launched a two-run homer to left field. However, LSUA responded quickly, scoring five runs on four hits in the second to seize the lead, one they would not relinquish.
Madison Dingman had a strong performance at the plate, going 3-for-4, while Grace Cantu contributed a 2-for-3 effort. Usrey led the team with two RBIs.
On the mound, Charli Miller entered in relief and shut down the Generals' offense, allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out three over 3.2 innings of work.
Game 2 (L, 3-1, 8 Innings)
Game two was a tightly contested battle that extended into extra innings, but the Generals ultimately edged out the Eagles with a 3-1 victory.
LSUA struck first in the opening inning, but the Eagles responded in the second when a sacrifice fly by Briana DeLeon brought home Jaqueline Hernandez to even the score. The teams remained deadlocked through the next five innings, forcing extra frames.
In the eighth, Kamille Lightfoot's RBI double put the Generals ahead, followed by an insurance run before the Eagles could escape the inning.
Rylee Glenn started in the circle for Texarkana, delivering a solid performance. She allowed just seven hits and one run over six innings while striking out two and issuing no walks. Five different Eagles recorded a hit, with DeLeon providing the team's lone RBI.

The Eagles hit the road this weekend for an RRAC doubleheader against Jarvis Christian in Hawkins, Texas. Game one is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch, followed by game two at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 1.
