HAWKINS, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana softball team made a strong statement in a weekend doubleheader against Jarvis Christian, sweeping the Bulldogs with a combined 17-0 score while holding them scoreless over 14 innings.
Game 1 (W, 8-0)
The Eagles came out swinging, getting on the board early with a sacrifice fly from Brooke Usrey. In the third inning, TAMUT capitalized on a Bulldogs' error, followed by a two-run single from Baylee Stautzenberger to extend their lead.
TAMUT's offense stayed relentless, racking up 18 hits and scoring in five different innings. Six Eagles drove in runs, with Briana DeLeon leading the charge by going 3-for-4 at the plate.
On the mound, Rylee Glenn delivered a dominant complete-game shutout, allowing just one hit over seven innings, while striking out nine and walking three.
Game 2 (W, 9-0)
The Eagles carried their momentum into game two, wasting no time taking control. In the first inning, Usrey ripped a two-run triple, followed by a Stautzenberger RBI single to give TAMUT a quick 3-0 lead.
The offense continued to roll, with Stautzenberger leading the lineup, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Madison Dingman added speed on the bases, swiping two stolen bases to keep the pressure on.
In the circle, Mia Perez was lights-out, tossing a no-hitter over 4.2 innings, striking out three and walking two. Addison Paul came in to close, pitching two scoreless innings to seal the shutout victory.
