Eagles’ Strong Start and Solid Pitching Secure Wildcat Sweep

TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Softball team hosted Louisiana Christian University this weekend for a Red River Athletic Conference doubleheader at Bramlett Field in Texarkana. The Eagles completed the sweep with victories of 7-0 and 3-1, improving to 10-2 in conference play and 23-5 overall.

Game 1: LCU 0, TAMUT 7

The Eagles jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first inning to set the tone for the rest of the game. TAMUT collected 11 hits, with Madison Dingman going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and stealing two bases. Grace Cantu drove in two RBIs. In the circle, Rylee Glenn pitched a complete game, allowing just four hits and no runs, while striking out four and walking two to earn the win.

Game 2: LCU 1, TAMUT 3

Madison Dingman put the Eagles on the board first, scoring on a wild pitch. The Wildcats tied it up in the top of the second with a single to left field. However, TAMUT regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth when two singles brought in two runs, making it 3-1. Jaquelyn Schmidt led the offense, going 2-for-2 with 1 RBI. In the circle, Morgan Benge earned the win, pitching five innings, allowing six hits and one run, with three strikeouts. Mia Perez closed out the game with two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out one to earn the save.

The Eagles will host back-to-back RRAC doubleheaders next weekend against Huston-Tillotson and UH-Victoria. Game dates and times are tentative, as weather conditions may impact the schedule.
