TEXARKANA, Texas – Texas A&M University-Texarkana Softball split a home doubleheader against the NCAA Division II Reddies from Henderson State on Tuesday at Bramlett Field, securing a 4-2 victory in the opener before falling 8-3 in the nightcap.
Game 1: Reddies 2, Eagles 4
The Eagles took control early with a three-run second inning, highlighted by Jaquelyn Schmidt's two-run double that found the gap in left-center field. Madison Dingman and Brooke Usrey also contributed key RBIs, with Dingman driving in a run on a sharp single to right. Pitching proved crucial, as Rylee Glenn earned the win, allowing two runs on six hits over five innings while keeping Henderson State's batters off balance. Charli Miller closed the game with two scoreless frames, mixing her pitches effectively to pick up the save. The Eagles' defense played a major role, making key plays to strand runners and limit the Reddies' opportunities. Henderson State's lone offensive highlight came in the fifth inning when Macy Hoskins launched a two-run homer, but TAMUT held firm to secure the win.
Game 2: Reddies 8, Eagles 3
TAMUT struck first with a run in the opening inning when Presley Humphrey doubled to bring in Kasen Morkisch, giving the Eagles an early edge. However, Henderson State responded with four runs in both the second and third frames, capitalizing on timely hits and aggressive baserunning. Dempsie Lindsey provided a spark with a two-run double in the sixth, but the Eagles struggled to string together hits against Henderson State's pitching. Morgan Benge took the loss, surrendering eight runs on five hits in 2.2 innings. Despite solid relief efforts from Charli Miller and Alexis Snyder, who combined to allow just one hit over the final four innings, the early deficit proved insurmountable.
