
Eagles Soar Past Gold Nuggets with Back-to-Back Shutouts
HOOKS, Texas – Texas A&M University-Texarkana Softball hosted the Gold Nuggets of Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) for an RRAC doubleheader this morning at the Hooks High School Softball Field. The Eagles put on a dominant performance, outscoring their opponent 19-0 across both games, securing a 9-0 win in game one and a 10-0 win in game two (each called after four and a half innings).
Game 1: TAMUT 9, XULA 0
The Eagles got on the board early with a double from first baseman Presley Humphrey that brought in a run. They extended their lead in the bottom of the second thanks to a sacrifice fly by Briana DeLeon and a groundout by Kasen Morkisch. In the third inning, TAMUT added two more runs, stretching the lead to 6-0.
The Eagles sealed the game in the bottom of the fourth, plating four runs and putting the game firmly out of reach.
Rylee Glenn delivered a stellar performance in the circle, earning her 12th win of the season. Glenn tossed a complete game shutout, allowing only two hits over five innings, striking out eight and walking none.
Offensively, TAMUT tallied 13 hits. Skyler Martin led the way, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, while DeLeon notched three RBIs.
Game 2: TAMUT 10, XULA 0
The Eagles continued their momentum into game two, setting the tone with a six-run third inning fueled by seven hits.
TAMUT struck first in the bottom of the first as Morkisch singled down the left field line to bring home Madison Dingman, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
Alexis Snyder picked up the win for TAMUT, throwing four hitless innings while striking out five and walking just one. Mia Perez came in to close, allowing one hit and striking out one in a scoreless fifth inning.
The Eagles racked up 12 hits in the game. Morkisch had a standout performance, going 3-for-4 with two singles and a triple. Dingman added two stolen bases, bringing her season total to 41—leading the RRAC in that category.
