Eagles struggle to make shots, drop second game in as many days

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Playing their second game in less than 24 hours, the A&M-Texarkana ladies struggled to make shots and the final result was an 84-55 loss at William Carey on Saturday.

The Eagles (0-2) shot just 30 percent from the floor and 26 percent from long range while turning the ball over 24 times. The host Crusaders made shots at a 47 percent clip and converted Eagle turnovers into 33 points. They also dominated in the paint, outscoring the Eagles 32-8.

William Carey got 28 points from its bench in building a lead as large as 38 points.

Semaj Adams led the Eagles with 26 points and 13 rebounds and Kayla Williams added 12 points and five boards. Outside of that pair, the rest of the team combined to make just 6-of-37 shots from the field.

The teams played close in the first quarter as William Carey led by just five at the end of one frame. However, they turned in on in the second, extending the lead to 44-23 at the half and 67-35 entering the final period.

The Eagles are off for more than a week before heading to Plainview for the WBU Queens Classic, hosted by Wayland Baptist University. TAMUT will face host Wayland Baptist on Nov. 10 and Oklahoma Panhandle State on Nov. 11.
