Eagles cruise past Southwest, up win streak to five games

HOBBS, New Mexico — Semaj Adams posted her fifth double-double of the season and the A&M-Texarkana women's basketball team cruised to a 71-46 win at Southwest on Saturday afternoon – the Eagles' fifth consecutive victory.

Adams scored a game-high 20 points on 3-of-4 shooting from long distance, grabbed 11 rebounds, dished four assists, and swiped three steals to help the Eagles improve to 7-5 overall and 4-2 in the RRAC. Jaslyn Woods added 17 points and Delfina Misiuna pumped in 14 points to go with nine rebounds.

The Eagles pulled down a total of 46 rebounds, including 19 on the offensive glass. They also held Southwest (6-7, 2-5 RRAC) to just 26.4 percent shooting from the floor (14-of-53) and forced 20 turnovers.

Milinda Arguellez led the Mustangs with 16 points but was the only player to score more than eight for Southwest, which has now lost three of its last four on their home floor.

The Eagles went ahead 22-13 after one period, took a 42-24 lead into the break and led 57-35 going into the fourth quarter. TAMUT will be home this week to host Texas College on Thursday and Jarvis Christian College on Saturday. Game times are scheduled for 5:30 and 2 pm, respectively at the Patterson Center.
