Eagles hold off Texas College for sixth consecutive victory

A&M-Texarkana rode a big first half and held off Texas College on Thursday to up their win streak to six games with a 70-66 passing of the Steers at the Patterson Center.

The Eagles (9-5, 6-2 RRAC) got 20 points and 12 rebounds from reigning conference Player of the Week Semaj Adams and 13 points, five rebounds and four assists from Kayla Williams as the hosts built a 44-34 halftime lead. Jaslyn Woods also added 17 points, five boards, four assists and a pair of steals. Quren Santiago had eight points, seven assists, six rebounds and five steals in a stat sheet-stuffing performance.

Te'Aire Hambrick led Texas College (3-11, 1-8 RRAC) with 21 points while two others had 16 and 13 points, respectively. The Steers cut their halftime deficit to seven points entering the fourth period and trimmed three more off that but could not overcome the Eagles in the end.

A&M-Texarkana will be home again Saturday when the Eagles host Jarvis Christian at 2 pm.
