Eagles’ Early Momentum Stalls in 77-62 Loss to Seahawks

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana - The Eagles faced the Seahawks of Keiser University for the second game of their two game trip to New Orleans this week. The Seahawks would defeat the Eagles with a final score of 77-62.

TAMUT would jump out on the Seahawks in the first quarter outscoring their opponent 22-14. Five different Eagles would drain a three in the first to help build their lead over the Seahawks, the Eagles shot 62.5% from beyond the arc in the first quarter. TAMUT would be able to hold onto their lead built in the first quarter heading into the half, despite being outscored 19-18 by the Seahawks. The Eagles would be up 7 with a score of 40-33 at the break.

A cold third quarter for the Eagles would provide Keiser the opportunity to snag the lead for the first time all game. With just over 5 minutes left to play in the third the Seahawks would even the score at 44 with the first of a pair of free throws and would go on to sink the second and gain the lead and never look back. The Eagles shot only 10% (1-10) from the field in the third quarter. The Seahawks would outscore TAMUT 26-8.

The Eagles would shake off the cold and return to 50% shooting in the fourth quarter, however the lead built in the third would be too much of a differential to make up, and they would fall to the Seahawks with a final score of 77-62.

Leading scorers for the Eagles were Gigi Waddell and Kayla Williams who both recorded 11 points. Williams would record her fourth double-double of the season with 10 boards to compliment her 11 points. Evelyn Terraza Alcántar would record 5 assists for the Eagles with teammate Ashley Daniel right behind her with 4 of her own.

Women's Basketball fall to 1-10 overall and 1-6 in conference play. The Eagles will be back in action Thursday, December 12th as they travel back to New Orleans for a RRAC matchup versus the (RV) Gold Nuggets of Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA). Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30pm at the Convocation Center.
