Eagles Stumble in 75-54 Loss to Generals

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Women's Basketball team traveled to Alexandria, Louisiana, to take on the 11-5 (8-4 RRAC) Generals of LSU-Alexandria in a Red River Athletic Conference doubleheader alongside the men's team. Despite a strong effort, the Eagles fell 75-54 on the Generals' home court, The Fort.

The Generals' defensive pressure posed significant challenges for the Eagles, forcing 22 turnovers that LSUA converted into 20 points. Additionally, the Generals dominated the boards, outrebounding the Eagles 38-26.

Kayla Williams opened the game with a three-pointer to give the Eagles an early lead. However, the Generals quickly responded, taking control of the game just minutes later and maintaining the lead for the remainder of the contest. LSUA outscored TAMUT 21-12 in the first quarter. A slow second quarter for the Eagles, where they managed only 9 points, allowed the Generals to extend their lead to 17 points heading into halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Eagles found some momentum, outscoring the Generals 17-16 in the third quarter and playing closely in the fourth. However, the intensity and improved play in the second half weren't enough to overcome the deficit built by LSUA in the first half.

Kayla Williams led the Eagles with her sixth double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Quren Santiago and Chi'onne Dailey contributed 8 points each, with Santiago also dishing out 3 assists.

With the loss, the Eagles drop to 3-14 on the season and 3-10 in conference play. Women's Basketball will look to bounce back this Saturday, January 11, against the Pilots of LSU-Shreveport at The Dock. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00pm.
