Eagles Soar on Senior Day With Dominant Win Over Jarvis Christian

TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana women's basketball team secured a 76-56 victory over Jarvis Christian University in its final home game of the season Saturday afternoon. The Eagles honored their seven seniors—Noura Aboutaleb, Bryana Baker, Ashley Daniel, Delfina Misiuna, Gigi Waddell, Quren Santiago, and Kayla Williams—in a postgame ceremony.

Jarvis Christian opened the game with an 11-0 run, holding the Eagles scoreless for the first five minutes. However, TAMUT responded with 16 unanswered points to take a 16-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Eagles maintained a seven-point advantage at halftime, and despite both teams scoring 14 points in the third quarter, TAMUT pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the Bulldogs 27-14. The Eagles shot 55% from the field in the second half, while their bench outscored Jarvis Christian's reserves 43-8.

Kayla Williams led TAMUT with 27 points and 13 rebounds, setting a new program record as the all-time leading scorer while recording her 10th double-double of the season. Chi'onne Dailey also posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists, helping the Eagles maintain control throughout the game.

With the win, TAMUT improves to 9-18 overall and 9-14 in conference play. The Eagles return to action on Thursday, Feb. 20, when they face Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Branch Gymnasium.
