AUSTIN, Texas – Texas A&M University-Texarkana women's basketball hit the road for its final two regular-season conference games, beginning with a matchup against Huston-Tillotson on Thursday night.
The teams previously met on the Eagles' home court, where the Rams secured a three-point win in the closing seconds after drawing a foul. In the rematch, Huston-Tillotson used a strong defensive third quarter to build a lead the Eagles could not overcome, securing a 63-51 victory.
Delfina Misiuna opened the scoring with a layup, but Tyaija Coleman responded with a jumper for the Rams. TAMUT held the lead for most of the first quarter, but a 6-2 run by Huston-Tillotson to close the period put the Rams ahead 14-11. The second quarter saw multiple lead changes before the Rams entered halftime with a one-point advantage.
Huston-Tillotson took control in the third quarter, holding the Eagles to just seven points and extending the lead to double digits. TAMUT found its rhythm in the fourth, nearly matching the Rams in scoring (18-16), but the deficit proved too much to overcome.
Chi'onne Dailey led the Eagles with 14 points, while Chioma Treasure Emeh added 10 points, six rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
The Eagles will close out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 22, against North American University in Stafford, Texas. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
