Throughout the entire 2023-24 season, A&M-Texarkana had been the team opponents feared, showcasing a multi-faceted offensive attack that at times could be unrelenting. But in two RRAC tournament games, that attack had been anything but intimidating. In the quarterfinal round, it was enough to get by, but in today's semifinal round, the lack of offense proved costly in ending the Eagles' season with a 1-0 loss to LSU-Shreveport.
The Eagles (16-3-1) managed just five shots in the contest and only two attempts on goal. The Pilots (13-3-3) had just six shots and four on goal, but they were able to put one of those into the net past goalkeeper Ivana Robinson in the 70th minute, as Alba Martinez put LSUS's sixth and final shot of the match in goal for the game-winner. The Pilots advance to take on LSU-Alexandria in Saturday's RRAC final. LSUA eliminated top-seed Xavier in the other semifinal, 2-0.
The Eagles were shutout for just the second time this season and registered a season-low five shots in the contest.
