Eagles fall to the Pilots of LSU-Shreveport

The Eagles traveled to The Swamp to take on the 2nd place Pilots of LSU-Shreveport in a RRAC matchup yesterday afternoon. The Eagles would fall to the Pilots 2-0 after the final whistle. 

In the first half, the Eagles would have many opportunities to score as they would produce 12 shots (7 on goal) but Pilots goalie proved to be an force to reckon with as she would record 7 saves holding the Eagles to zero goals going into the half. The Eagles held the Pilots to just 4 shots (1 on goal) in the first half and Freshman goalie Layla Anaya would also hold the opponent scoreless in the first. Going into halftime, the Eagles and Pilots were tied 0-0 with 45 minutes left to play. 

The Pilots came out with a mission in the second half, and quickly grabbed the lead over the Eagles off a goal by Diana Godines assisted by Juliana Anchondo. The two would switch roles and Anchondo would add a second goal off an assist from Godines just minutes later, putting the Pilots up 2-0 over the Eagles. 

The Pilots were able to slow down the offensive attack of the Eagles and hold them to only 8 shots in the second half, but again Pilots Garcia would record a shutout with 10 saves on the 10 shots on goal produced by the Eagles. 

The Eagles fall to 11-3-1 overall and 7-3-1 in conference. Women's Soccer is currently ranked 5th in the RRAC with 2 games left of regular season to go. 

Women's Soccer will be back in action on October 31st at Jarvis Christian University in Hawkins, Texas. Kickoff is set for 1:00pm.
