A Quarterfinal Loss Brings the Eagles' Season to a Close

Women's Soccer's season comes to and end after a close RRAC Championship Quarterfinal loss against the Generals from LSU-Alexandria.

The two teams met earlier in the season and the game ended in a draw after the Generals snuck in a last second goal to make the score 3-3. Coming into this match, the Eagles were seeded 5th in the tournament and the Generals earned the 4th seed.

LSU-A would quickly get on the board after a goal in the 8th minute by Hille Baumfaulk. Eagles Desiree Narvaez would even out the score just minutes later with a goal of her own. The two teams would exchange goals once more after a PK for LSU-A and a solo goal by Alexia Lara. The Generals would score one last goal in the minutes of the first half putting them ahead 3-2 with 45 minutes left to play. Sascha Backus would score the fourth and final goal for the Generals off an assist by Alexia Bermejo Jo putting the Generals up 4-2 with under 20 minutes left to play in the final half. The Eagles would not give up fighting and freshman Rylie Williams would bring the Eagles within one with a goal in the 85th minute. However, the time proved to be a limitation for the Eagles and the Generals would emerge victorious and advance to the RRAC Championship Semifinals at the final whistle.

The Eagles made some waves this season proving themselves to be a contender in the RRAC. Not only did the Eagles start the season off with a 9-game win streak, receive votes to be ranked in the Top 25 of NAIA Women's Soccer, but they also had many players who had conference leading performances. Freshman Rylie Williams is in the top of the conference for goals as she scored 16 goals for the Eagles. Sophomore Desiree Narvaez is currently ranked 3rd in the conference for assists on the season with 12 and Williams and Narvaez are in a four-way tie for most points scored in the conference this season with 40.

The Eagles would end the season with a record of 13-4-1 overall and 9-4-1 in conference play.
