WAXAHACHIE, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana women's soccer team showed its fight to the very end, earning a dramatic 1-1 draw on the road at Nelson Saturday afternoon.
After conceding a goal in the opening minute, the Eagles settled in and controlled much of the match, outshooting Nelson 12-6 and creating the better chances throughout. Brooklyn Lattier led the attack with six shots, while Lillian Miller set up multiple opportunities in the midfield.
The breakthrough came in the closing seconds, when Desiree Narvaez buried the equalizer off a perfect assist from Miller at the 89:11 mark to level the match. Goalkeeper Layla Anaya kept TAMUT within striking distance, making three saves in net.
The Eagles held a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal and finished with a 3-1 edge in corner kicks, showing strong offensive pressure in the second half.
Women's soccer is back in action Monday, September 1, in a non-conference matchup against Williams Baptist University at 1 p.m. in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
