Six-Goal Surge Lifts Eagles Over Williams Baptist

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana women's soccer team made a statement on Saturday, earning its first win of the season with a decisive 6-0 victory over Williams Baptist.

The Eagles struck early, as junior Ava Axtle found the back of the net in the eighth minute to give TAMUT a 1-0 lead. Despite relentless pressure and 14 first-half shot attempts, Williams Baptist goalkeeper Neveah Larkins came up with several big saves to keep the margin at one heading into halftime.

Freshman Jailah Benson doubled the lead in the 60th minute, opening the floodgates for the Eagles' attack. In the final 15 minutes, TAMUT broke the game open with four more goals: Alicia Loera (unassisted), Desiree Narvaez (assisted by Lillian Miller), Narvaez again (from Loera), and Kyla Neely (assisted by Victoria Hernandez).

TAMUT finished with a commanding 30-5 edge in shots and a narrow 4-3 advantage in corner kicks, showcasing offensive control from start to finish.

The Eagles return to action on Sunday, Sept. 7, hosting former Red River Athletic Conference opponent Huston-Tillotson in their regular-season home opener at 12 p.m.
