TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana women's soccer team earned its second straight win Sunday, defeating Huston-Tillotson 4-0 at home.
The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board, as junior Lillian Miller struck just over a minute into the match to give TAMUT the early advantage. In the 33rd minute, freshman Brooklyn Lattier doubled the lead off an assist from Ziah Zackry, sending the Eagles into halftime up 2-0.
Texarkana continued its strong play after the break. Lattier tallied her second goal of the afternoon in the 72nd minute, this time assisted by Ayleen Avila, before freshman Brooklyn Solis capped the scoring in the 85th minute off a feed from Angela Barrio.
The Eagles controlled play throughout, outshooting Huston-Tillotson 20-5 and holding a 6-3 edge in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Nayomy Cueva made three saves to secure her first clean sheet of the season.
TAMUT improves to 2-1-1 and will look to continue its momentum on Tuesday, Sept. 9, hosting Central Baptist College at 5 p.m. on Judy Kelley Morgan Field.
