Women’s Tennis Brings the Heat at Ram Invite
ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana women's tennis team turned in a dominant performance at the Ram Invite, hosted by Texas Wesleyan University in Arlington. The Eagles faced tough competition from Hardin-Simmons University, Austin College, University of Dallas, Weatherford College, and the host Rams, but came away with multiple championships and a 17-3 overall record on the weekend.
TAMUT opened the tournament strong on Day 1, going a combined 9-1 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles, earning spots in three singles championship matches and both doubles finals.
On Day 2, the Eagles carried their momentum into championship action:

Ana Gonzalez battled through a three-set thriller to win the Flight A Singles Championship (3-6, 6-0, 11-9).

Emmanouela Besi finished runner-up in the Flight B Singles Championship.

In an all-Eagle final, Andrea Castillo defeated teammate Adrianne Guangko 7-6 (4), 7-5 to claim the Flight C Singles Championship, with Guangko earning runner-up honors.

Meghan Connolly bounced back to capture the Flight D Consolation Championship with a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
Doubles play was just as successful:

The duo of Gonzalez and Besi advanced to the Flight A Doubles Final, finishing as runners-up.

Castillo and Guangko dominated their side of the bracket, winning back-to-back matches on Day 2 to secure the Flight B Doubles Championship.
In total, the Eagles left Arlington with two singles championships, one doubles championship, one consolation championship, and multiple runner-up finishes.
The team will be back in action on Friday, September 12, at the Marty Berryman Invitational hosted by Collin College in Plano, Texas.
