Eagles go 2-0 Versus the Bulldogs this Weekend Moving to 5-1 in Conference

The Eagles took on the Bulldogs of Jarvis Christian University this weekend in a two-game series at home in the Patterson Student Center located on the A&M-Texarkana campus. Women's Volleyball would win both matches this weekend and complete a sweep of the Bulldogs.

In game one, the Eagles would take the match in three sets (25-18, 25-18, 25-15). The score in the first set was neck and neck until the Eagles went on a 9-point run to come from behind and snag the lead 19-13. The Bulldogs would start a comeback but would fall short and succumb to the Eagles 25-18 at the end of the first. The second set went quite similarly as the first, but a final push for the Eagles in the last 6 points powered by kills from multiple eagles would secure the win again and put the Eagles ahead 2-0 going into the third set.  In the third set, the Eagles would take control of the court and won the final set 25-15.

Leaders for the Eagles in game one were Ja'Kerra Holt with 10 kills, Mia Mata with 13 digs, and Zoe Martinez and Kaitlyn Cabral would both add two aces to the mix for the Eagles.

In Saturday's game, the Eagles again would defeat the Bulldogs in three sets (25-14,25-14,25-19).  In the first set, the Eagles would grab a comfortable lead about halfway through the set, leading the Bulldogs 16-7, and were able to hold onto it and win the first set. Towards the end of the second set the Eagles would be up 20-9, however the Bulldogs made a push and brought the set within 6 points of the Eagles, but the Eagles were able to hold off the Bulldogs and secure the second set victory. The Bulldogs fought until the end in the third set but ultimately fell short to the Eagles, securing the 3 set victory for TAMUT, and solidifying the weekend sweep.

Leaders for the Eagles in game 2 were Alanna Deering with 12 kills, Ja'Kerra Holt with 2 aces, and Mia Mata recording 13 digs for the Eagles.

The Eagles are back in action next weekend October 4th and 5th, as they travel to Austin, Texas to take on the Rams of Huston-Tillotson. Game one is set for 6:00pm on Friday the 4th
