Eagles Complete Sweep of the Mustangs to Start Homecoming off on a Winning Note
Women's Volleyball took on the Mustangs of University of the Southwest this weekend at home in the Patterson Student Center. The Eagles completed the sweep of the Mustangs with two 3-0 finals.
In game one, the Eagles would win (25-10,25-13,25-20) in three sets. The Eagles would take control of the game in the first two sets of play, however the Mustangs did not go out without a fight and brought the third set to a close 25-20 victory for the Eagles. TAMUT would play with an aggressive offense which would help them prevail over the Mustangs. The Eagles would record 12 aces in just three sets, Sophomore Kailtyn Cabral would have 4 of the aces scored by the Eagles. Other stats leaders for the Eagles for game one include Mia Mata who led in kills (11), Kimberlee Joyce with 17 assists, and Kaitlyn Cabral with 9 digs in addition to her 4 aces.
Southwest came out with force in set one of Saturday's game, however after only a 3 point victory for the Eagles in the first set, a shift in momentum in favor of the Eagles gave TAMUT the push they needed to take the next two sets in a dominant manner winning 25-13 and 25-12. Stats leaders for the Eagles in game two were Ja'Kerra Holt with 9 kills, Kimberlee Joyce with 18 assists, and Kaitlyn Cabral with 11 digs.
The Eagles travel to Pineville, Louisiana next weekend to take on the Wildcats of Louisiana Christian University. Friday's game is scheduled to start at 7:00pm and Saturday's is set for 12:00pm.
