Eagles Extend their Win Streak with Wins Over LCU

Women's Volleyball traveled to Pineville, Louisiana this weekend to take on the Wildcats of Louisiana Christian University. The Eagles would win both games over the Wildcats, improving their record to 17-10 overall and 13-1 in conference.
The Eagles would take game one in three sets (25-20,25-22, 25-17). The Eagles would prove to be an offensive force by recording 49 kills in just the three sets, 19 more than the wildcats. Ja'Kerra Holt would have a stellar offensive game for the Eagles with 13 kills on 17 total attacks, recording a hitting percentage of .647. Other stats leaders for the Eagles include Kimberlee Joyce with 20 assists, Mia Mata with 12 digs, and Paulina Dobreva and Zoe Martinez would both record 2 service aces each.
In game two the Wildcats would come out in set one with vengeance after the game the night before and were able to take the first set 25-17. The second set of the match would begin to lean in favor toward the Wildcats again after a serving run by Emma Cother would put them up 16-9 over the Eagles. However, the Eagles battled back and forced the set to be a win by two decision The Eagles would prevail in set two 26-24, splitting the sets 1-1. The Eagles would get to work in the next two sets winning 25-19 and 25-16 to complete the weekend sweep and continue their win streak. Stats leaders for the Eagles include Paulina Dobreva with 16 kills, Madison Arrieta and Mia Mata both with 13 digs, and Kimberlee Joyce with 27 assist.
In Saturday's game, junior Kimberlee Joyce would surpass the 1000 career assist milestone. Joyce currently has 1017 assists and counting on her career and has recorded 417 assists this season, approaching her season high that she set last year with 431 assists.
The Eagles will be back in action for their last home game this coming Friday November 1st against non-conference opponent Wiley University. Join us at the Patterson Student Center for the Eagles last home game as we honor and celebrate our Women's Volleyball Seniors. The match is set to start at 6:00pm following Senior Night festivities.
