
A Season to Remember: Volleyball Shatters Records in 2024
TEXARKANA, Texas - The Women's Volleyball team had a historic 2024 season, marking a series of incredible achievements. The Eagles earned their first-ever Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Regular Season Champion title and secured a second-place finish in the RRAC Tournament, falling to the Saints of Our Lady of the Lake University. They ended the season with an impressive 21-11 overall record and a dominant 15-1 in conference play.
The 2024 season was a record-breaking year for the Eagles, with eight individual school records shattered.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Cabral had an extraordinary debut, breaking two single-season records. She set a new record for most kills in a season with 299, surpassing the previous record of 236, set by teammate Mia Mata in 2023. Additionally, she broke the single-season points record of 285, also set in 2023 by Katherine Toftemark, finishing the season with 351.5 points.
The Eagles also rewrote the record board for career statistics, as every career record was broken by the season's end.
Senior Ja'Kerra Holt capped off her career by breaking two major records. She surpassed the career kills record, setting a new benchmark with 429 kills. Heading into the season, she ranked fifth in school history for career points but broke the previous record set by Toftemark to establish a new high of 554 career points.
Senior Madison Arrieta concluded her collegiate career with two career records as well. She extended her own career aces record from 81 to 90 and shattered her previous career digs record of 557, finishing with 777 digs.
Graduate student Katherine Toftemark, a familiar name in the Eagles' record books, added to her legacy by surpassing her previous school record for career blocks. She finished her career with 223 blocks, up from her prior record of 209.
Junior Kimberlee Joyce made her mark by breaking the school record for career assists. She surpassed the 1,000-career-assist milestone on October 26th in a match against the Louisiana Christian Wildcats and finished the season with 1,108 assists, breaking the previous record of 971 set by Zulecia Cruz.
The 2024 season will be remembered as a defining chapter in Eagles Volleyball history, showcasing exceptional talent and resilience that set the stage for future success.
