Texarkana, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana volleyball team battled hard on its home floor Tuesday night but came up short against NCAA Division II foe Ouachita Baptist, falling in straight sets (16-25, 22-25, 14-25).
Senior outside hitter Kaitlyn Cabral paced the Eagle offense with 12 kills and added seven digs, while fellow outside Paulina Dobreva chipped in seven kills and 13 digs. Middle blocker Macyen Doskocil contributed five kills and a pair of blocks at the net, and setter Zoe Martinez recorded 13 assists to go along with 13 digs for a double-double effort. Lauren Herz anchored the back row once again, tallying 15 digs and serving up two aces.
Despite generating offensive runs in each set, the Eagles struggled to find consistency, hitting just .038 as a team against a strong OBU defense.
The Eagles (12-4) will look to bounce back on Friday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. when they host Texas College in their first conference matchup of the season.
