Women's Volleyball Takes Down Two Division II Foes in Arkadelphia

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana volleyball team continued its impressive season with two statement wins against NCAA Division II opponents Tuesday afternoon at a triangular hosted by Henderson State inside the Duke Wells Center. The Eagles opened with a dominant sweep over Lane College before battling back for a five-set victory against the host Reddies, securing a memorable 2–0 day and their first-ever wins over Division II programs in school history.

The Eagles set the tone early with a commanding 3–0 (25–19, 25–11, 25–6) sweep of Lane College, showcasing an efficient offensive rhythm with a .291 team hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Paulina Dobreva led the way with six kills and five service aces for 11 total points, while Candace Fuchs turned in a stellar performance with eight kills on a .438 clip. Kaitlyn Cabral added seven kills, and Macyen Doskocil contributed both at the net and the service line with four kills and four aces. Setters Zoe Martinez and Ashley Rhame combined for 23 assists to pace the attack, and libero Lauren Herz anchored the defense with six digs.

In the nightcap, TAMUT went toe-to-toe with Great American Conference opponent Henderson State, rallying from behind to earn a five-set thriller (19–25, 25–20, 23–25, 25–23, 15–13). The Eagles leaned on their veteran hitters, as Cabral and Dobreva notched 17 and 16 kills respectively to fuel the comeback. Rhame and Martinez continued their strong play, combining for 43 assists and six service aces to keep the Reddies off balance throughout the match. On the defensive end, Herz was outstanding with a match-high 22 digs, while Kelby Coutee and Doskocil teamed up for nine total blocks at the net. TAMUT finished the match with 93 team digs and nine aces, showcasing its grit and depth in the clutch.

With the two victories, the Eagles improve to 16–4 on the season, marking another milestone in what has been a historic campaign for the program.

Texas A&M–Texarkana returns home this weekend to face Louisiana Christian University, with matches scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 12 p.m. inside the Patterson Student Center.
