Volleyball Dominates LCU in Back-to-Back Sweeps

TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana volleyball team hosted Red River Athletic Conference rival Louisiana Christian University for a two-match series on Friday and Saturday, October 10–11. The Eagles dominated the weekend, sweeping the Wildcats in back-to-back 3-0 victories.

TAMUT came out firing Friday night, setting the tone early with a commanding 25-5 win in the opening set. The Wildcats put up a stronger fight in the following frames, but the Eagles maintained control to secure the sweep (25-5, 25-13, 25-18). Paulina Dobreva led the attack with 11 kills, followed by Kaitlyn Cabral with 7. Setter Ashley Rhame paced the offense with 16 assists, while libero Lauren Herz anchored the defense with 23 digs.

The two teams met again Saturday afternoon in the Patterson Student Center, and the Eagles picked up right where they left off, completing the weekend sweep with another 3-0 win (25-12, 25-13, 25-18). Dobreva once again led the charge, recording 16 kills on a .667 hitting percentage and adding 11 digs. Rhame dished out 21 assists, while she and Zoe Martinez each contributed two service aces to round out the effort.

With the pair of victories, the Eagles improved to 18-4 overall and extended their conference winning streak to 4-0.

The Eagles will return to action next weekend when they travel to New Orleans, Louisiana, to face the Gold Nuggets of Xavier University of Louisiana. Match times are set for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, and 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18.
