NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana volleyball team traveled to New Orleans this weekend for a pivotal Red River Athletic Conference series against the highly competitive Gold Nuggets of Xavier University of Louisiana. The two teams met Friday evening at 6 p.m. inside the Convocation Center on XULA's campus for a matchup highlighted as a "must-watch" by NAIA Women's Volleyball. The Eagles rose to the occasion, completing a clean sweep of the Gold Nuggets across both matches to extend their win streak and remain undefeated in conference play.
Friday night's opener was a thriller from start to finish. The Eagles edged out a hard-fought first set, 30–28, before battling through another tight frame to take set two, 25–22. TAMUT closed out the match in dominant fashion with a 25–18 win, sweeping one of the top contenders in the RRAC.
Paulina Dobreva led the way offensively with 15 kills, followed closely by Kaitlyn Cabral with 12. Setters Ashley Rhame (23 assists) and Zoe Martinez (20 assists) combined for 43 of the team's 50 assists, while libero Lauren Herz anchored the defense with 15 digs. At the net, Macyen Doskocil was a defensive force, tallying six blocks.
The Eagles carried Friday's momentum into Saturday's rematch, sweeping the Gold Nuggets once again (25–16, 25–16, 25–22) and refusing to drop a single set in the series.
Cabral and Dobreva once again led the offensive charge with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Dobreva also shined defensively with 15 digs, while Martinez (19 assists) and Rhame (17 assists) directed the offense with precision.
