Women Dominate Race at LeTourneau University
Both Eagles cross country teams traveled to Longview, Texas to run in the Nicole Leman Invitational at LeTourneau University. This was the first race of the season for both teams who dominated the competition in hot and humid conditions.
Zalenka Brannan, a sophomore from Whitesboro, Texas, took first place in the women's race and paced the Eagles who also won the team race. Zalenka finished the three-mile course in 20:12.89. The Eagles finished in three of the top four spots with Kayla Reeves (FR) finishing third and Kailee Carr (FR) finishing fourth. The other Eagles results included Daniela Hernandez (10th), Bridget McDonald (12th), and Angelique Colon (13th).
Head Coach Natnael Amare was pleased with the team's performance in the opening race of the season, saying "the team's performance today gave me a clear picture of where they stand in their training. Enjoying this success in the moment is important, but getting back to work will keep the momentum going.
The men will next race on September 7th at UT Tyler, and the women's next race will be the University of Dallas Invitational on September 14th.
