Humidity and Heat Didn't Slow Down the Eagles
This past weekend Men's and Women's Cross Country traveled to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to compete in the Tiger Invitational Hosted by Ouachita Baptist University. Head Coach Natnael Amare shared a recap of how the race went for both teams;
"Today was a hot and humid day at OBU Arkansas, but I am incredibly proud of the way both the men and women performed.
Men's Team:
The guys started strong, running as a pack, and managed the heat well. I was especially pleased with Luis and Mark, who finished strong despite the challenging conditions. Their efforts today showed not only resilience but also the progress we've made as a team.
Women's Team:
The women showed great teamwork, working together throughout the race. They stayed focused, and I'm proud of their consistency in executing our race strategy. It's clear that we are maintaining a solid foundation in our training, which is helping us perform well as a unit.
Looking Ahead:
Now, it's time to build on this momentum. The men will continue their preparation for the race at Texas A&M University in College Station, while the women will have two weeks to prepare for their race at Winfield, Kansas, for the Mid State's class meet."
Top finishers for the Eagles were Luis Morales finishing 22nd out of 65 with an 8k time of 27:52.26 and Zalenka Brannan who placed 17th out of 79 runners with a 5k time of 20:00.65.
